This isolated area of water has a favorable temperature and pressure, which requires special molecules in the water to bond with oil to form an oil ring.
When this happens, it can last for months! A unique feature of this phenomenon is that when an object contacts the oil, it can remain visible for weeks or months even if you forget to put on your safety gear!
The reason this happens is that there are certain parts of the cell that hold onto oil. When an object contacts it, it pushes out enough energy to form an oily ring.
Creating an oil layer on water
This trick is for creating an oil layer on water. It is similar to the thin film trick, but this one creates an oil layer on water. You do this by injecting air into the water to create pockets of air.
These pockets of air trap and hold enough oil to create a thick layer on water. You can then paint or spread a product onto your water, and it will stay that way for a few days.
How to do it: You start by setting up a source of filtered or unpolished water. You can buy special bottled waters that have been treated or special packaged waters that have been labeled purified.
You then use a compressor backup tank bag to contain the amount of compressed air you are using.
Very thin oil layer on water
This is the rare case where an oil film does not remain thickened and stable on water. This case is called a very thin oil film (VTO) or barely detectable oil layer on water (BOL).
VTOs can happen when you forget your oil has been added to water, or when you add too much water after the oil has been mixed in with it.

VTOs can occur in different rates from never to many times in one day! Unfortunately, we did not get any data on this subject so we cannot tell you how often they occur.
Very thin oil layer on top of a very thick oil layer on top of water
This phenomenon is known as a very thin oil film. The term very refers to the thickness of the oil film, not the amount of time it remains on top of water.
This phenomenon can occur in several ways: due to weather changes, geographic locations with warmer climates, or simply because we like it that way.

Make a very thin oil layer on top of water

This is another surprisingly simple trick that you can do. It requires little to no expertise, just a bit of brain cells!
The easiest way to do this is by making a tall, thin tower of water with the top layer of oil. When you put your fish in the water, it stays up because it has a thick enough oil layer to hold onto its shape.
You can then add some decorations such as plants or other fish species to sit atop the water tower. This creates a beautiful aquarium style display!
This trick does require some setup time though, so do not go crazy trying it right away.
Mixing the layers together
This phenomenon is known as multi-layer design. Most of the time, these features are hidden under a thicker layer, like a curtain or blanket.
Many interior designers use this as a way to add complexity to designs. For example, a static curtain covering one side of an open space, or a thermal blanket spread across several people in a warm environment.
Mixing the layers together can have positive or negative effects on water retention and water balance.
Use the right kind of oil for the job
As the oil goes in and out of your engine, it effects the working of your engine. There are two main kinds of oil used in engines- synthetic and natural.
Synthetic oils are created using a process of mixing various compounds and then applying the mixture onto a sheet of metal and then passing it through an extruder to create the final oil.
natural oils are not made from mixing different substances, but are extracted from an animal or plant. Many plants have oils that resemble natural oils- safflower is an example.
Because of this, most representative brands have a base oil that is like a blend of fish oil and peanut butter, with some olive or vegetable oil added to make it thicker.
