Recent reports claim that many so-called ‘catfisher’ or ‘conversationalist’ services actively use bots to scam, deceive, and steal money from users. Some even go as far as labeling these scams as positive experiences, because they feel you’re taught about relationships in them!
It is very important to understand what a catfish is before looking into whether or not catfishing is good for your love life. So, here we are — let’s dive in!
What is a catfish?
A term coined in 2001, a catfish is when someone pretends to be something or someone else online. This could be through creating an account with a social media website like Facebook or YouTube, or it could be via chat apps such as Discord, Skype, or Whatsapp.
By pretending to be someone they are not, the person who uses the service can gain access to private information, credit cards, and/or loans. It also helps their image by seeming authentic. (Note: just because there is no evidence of this being done directly at Viber doesn’t mean it isn’t happening elsewhere!)
The chances of getting scammed online have never been higher due to the ease of availability and accessibility of most digital devices. With every new device comes its own app market, which offers opportunities for malicious actors to spread fake accounts and content.
How catfish are caught

There are two main ways that most people think about fishing. The first is normal, outdoor sports like trout or bass catching. This type of fishing is known as dry-land fishing.
The second way to fish is through water. This is called freshwater fishing. Both types of fishing can be done either directly in the water or from the shore where there’s more room to set up equipment.
With both wet-land and underwater fishing, one must know how to identify different species of fish. This includes knowing what kind of fish you have and if it is edible or not!
When fishing for catfish, there are three important things to note. First, never use your own bait or lure unless you’ve specifically trained yourself on how to catch a catfish with them. Bait and lures will usually backfire and get you a net loss instead.
Second, do not pull at the rod too hard or fast. A heavy jerk could cause the line to break, and a light tug could lose control of the hook.
Third, make sure your hands are clean before putting down fresh food. Catfish may carry parasites or bacteria that could infect your hand.
How catfish are processed

While some people may use social media to check into potential relationships, other individuals actively look for ways to make fake accounts. These users typically will create an account that is slightly different from the real you and then they begin interacting with others online!
Catfisheries take advantage of this by pretending to be someone else. They can be completely phony, or they can include pictures or videos of you.
These types of apps often start off as casual conversations to see if there’s any interest before moving onto more intimate topics.
Because of this, it’s very difficult to tell whether what you’re reading is true or not! It’s also hard to know when these apps want to meet in person.
Since most people have their phone with them at all times, finding out who the app user really is becomes nearly impossible. This is why it is so important to remain cautious about giving your information to strangers online.
It is totally understandable to feel hurt or betrayed after being duped, but only putting energy into revenge will keep you stuck there. The best thing to do is try to move on with your life.
The effects of catfish on our health

With all due respect to those who enjoy watching dramatic television shows about people trying to piece together whether or not their loved one is cheating on them, there are some issues with this genre of show.
The main issue comes down to how effective they are in helping others find answers as to if their partner is cheating on them.
Catfishing can have very serious health consequences for individuals that are targeted by fake accounts. Health complications arise when the person being deceived has false expectations about their future life with someone they love, mental stress from feeling hurt and betrayed, and nutritional deficiencies caused by spending money on things like groceries while separated.
Some studies even say that eating less may be difficult once you’re back together!
Given all these possible negative side effects, it seems clear that catfishing isn’t a solution where everyone is concerned.
The truth about catfish

Recent reports claim that many popular dating apps such as Tinder, Happn and OkCupid allow users to put false information in their profiles to trick potential romantic partners into meeting them.
These so-called ‘catfishing’ schemes have become increasingly common due to the popularity of these applications.
By lying about your employment or personal life, you can gain access to more intimate conversations with possible connections.
However, this tactic is not worth it if you want to keep yourself safe and secure from scams. It may be hard to tell whether someone is fake or not, but there are some things you can look out for.
If you notice anything suspicious, do not meet up or give anyone your sensitive information. This would include credit card details, addresses and phone numbers.
You could also report the person to social services or law enforcement.
Are catfish really tasty?

While some people may consider catfish gross, they are actually very popular in food culture. Many large restaurant chains feature them as a main ingredient!
Catfish is not considered fish- it’s categorized instead as an “aquatic mammal.” This means that just like dolphins and whales, they originate from aquatic birth mammals and fully grow in water.
But unlike dolphin or whale meat, which has been shown to have significant levels of mercury, catfish can be low in this heavy metal.
However, there are still reasons to avoid eating too much catfish. Some varieties contain high amounts of fat, cholesterol, and/or salt — all of whichcan increase your risk of heart disease.
Does it matter how you cook it?

Many people have made claims about whether or not catfish is healthy, so we will address that here! Almost every major city has at least one restaurant that specializes in fried fish and rice dishes. Most of these restaurants use very high temperatures to fry their foods which may include butter as an ingredient.
Many people believe that eating too much saturated fat can be harmful. Therefore, they try to limit the amount of fats they eat by choosing lean meats and cooking them healthier. Unfortunately, this change often does not occur without some resistance.
For someone who loves their meat, like me, cooked well done with lots of grease, changing what kind of meat you eat can be difficult. The same goes for carbs! I love my white bread and pasta so I struggle to make changes to those.
Most people do not seem to worry much about eating enough protein though. We need adequate amounts of protein to keep our bones strong and muscles toned. Proteins are part of most of your body’s tissues including blood, skin, and internal organs.
Catfish is a great source of protein. It is also low in carbohydrates making it a good choice if you want to reduce overall calorie intake. However, there is no clear definition of what constitutes “enough” protein. Some experts say that women should aim to consume at least 65 grams per day while men should strive for 80 grams.
Catfish is very high in fat

While some people may use catfish as a healthier alternative to meat, it’s actually much higher in fat than the average person assumes.
Most people assume that one serving of catfish contains at least two grams of protein and no more than 200 mg of sodium per 2,000 calories — which makes most grilled fish like tuna or salmon recipes well within guidelines.
But a single 3-ounce (or about 85 gram) plate of broiled white breaded catfish has 670% MORE kcals than your daily target! And almost all of those extra 400 kcals are from an incredible 673 mg of sugar, making this snack way beyond recommended limits.
Catfish isn’t necessarily worse for you than other foods, but it does contain lots of fat and sugar, so enjoy it in moderation.
Catfish contains bacteria

Does that make catfish good or bad for you?
Absolutely not! The term “catfish” refers to people who create fake online profiles to befriend, connect with, and potentially even date unsuspecting users.
These fake accounts are typically used to steal personal information or money from their victims, but some individuals use them to fulfill an emotional need.
By creating false identities and relationships, they remove control of those emotions from us, the true owners of the account.
This is why it is important to recognize when someone has made you feel emotionally attached while also confirming that they do not exist outside of your imagination.
It may be difficult to remain detached, but doing so will help you maintain your mental health.
