Many people use the clipboard as their default tool for saving things such as URLs, notes, and even whole documents. With so many apps having this feature these days, it is no wonder why most are known to have it.
However, there are some who feel that the iOS clipboard is limited in functionality. These individuals may not agree with using the clipboard as a way to save large items due to time constraints or lack of availability of the item being saved.
Fortunately, Apple has provided an easy solution to fix this!
You can create a shortcut to the system’s “Save” button which will let you choose any app as the destination where you can store the item. Once stored, you can access the item easily by tapping onto the app and then choosing to open the item from there.

The primary clipboard is the one we use the most
For example, if you need to take some notes during a meeting, you can pull out your phone with a good amount of battery life and then later go back and paste those notes into another app or page where they make sense.
The same goes for when someone sends you an article or note that you want to read but you are not near a computer so you grab your phone and run off somewhere else.
You may also need to copy something like a receipt or picture in order to write down a business trip or event.
The main reason why people lose track of their phones is because there’s no way to access the contents of the memory other than by using the smartphone itself.
This is because many apps have a shortcut key or menu item that lets you access the clipboard, but it might be hard to find it since it isn’t necessarily labeled as such.
The secondary clipboard is the one we use less often
More than half of all smartphone users access the system settings through a small, discreet button located in the bottom-right corner of the device. This feature allows you to manage your phone’s data storage space, configure automatic backups, and even create shortcuts to apps.
But there’s one setting inside this menu that gets almost completely overlooked. You can find it by going to Settings > General > Usage. Here, you’ll see what files people have downloaded onto their phones via the app Data Transfer or iCloud Backup.
This information comes from both iOS and third party apps, so make sure to check them all! It may also tell you which apps were used for back up and how much free memory they’ve got left.
Now here’s where things get tricky. Almost every person will have the option to include photos and videos in the backup. But not everyone will think to check the second most important item on the list — the “Clipboard.”
The “clipboard” is an area on your computer or phone where you save documents and other content you want to keep around. For example, if you’re doing some web research, you might copy the URL into your browser’s bookmarks bar or into Microsoft Word. That way you’ll always have a way to come back to that site later.
It works similarly with mobile apps.
The tertiary clipboard is the one we use the least
We only really need the secondary clipboard if you want to make copies of things such as documents, images, or videos. You can also copy iPhone files like notes, messages, and apps using this tool.
The tertiary clipboard is sometimes referred to as the “cloud” clipboard because it stores your copied information online instead of locally. This makes sense since most people now have access to internet at home so why not leverage that?
This feature is mostly useless though unless Apple allows users to edit their pastes which they probably never will. It is possible to do limited editing such as changing colors and adding special effects but overall very little.
There are some websites and applications that offer free cloud storage so this isn’t too expensive either.
We can access all of these clipboards by using the following keyboard shortcut
Keyboard shortcuts are cool! They allow you to do some pretty powerful things quickly and easily. A common one is creating a new document or file with just pressing CTRL + N.
In iOS, there’s an easy way to access every clipboard in the system. All you have to do is press COMMAND+P during playback of a video. The first time you do this, it may ask if you want to add Command Pro as a quick launch item for this app, which seems a little excessive but totally fine! After that, it will always bring up the “Clipboard” option when you open this app.
This feature works for both photos and videos so now you don’t need two separate apps for that.
Record and paste
The other way to access the clipboard is by recording what you want to copy and then pasting it where you wanted to put it. For example, if you are taking notes in an app like Google Keep or Evernote, you can create a note and then either tap into the web version of your app to make the note there, or just type up the note here and then hit “copy” before switching over.
You can also take a picture with the camera feature on your phone and then use that photo as a template for creating a new one. You can then choose where you would like to save the file and what you would like to call it!

Cut, copy, and paste
Now that you have learned how to use your iPhone’s built-in clipboard for saving web pages, notes, and other content, it is time to learn about something very similar–cutting pictures or videos from one place to another.
You can easily cut out a piece of a photo or video clip and move it to another location or device. This is called cutting or clipping the item away.
Most people know what copying is, but few understand what cutting means. It is changing where a part of a thing goes! For example, if you wanted to remove the hood of a car, you would go in with a knife and cut off the top of the hood. You could then put the hood in your pocket or throw it away.
When you need to do this on an iOS device, there are two ways to do it. The first way is using the native tools, which require downloading additional apps. The second way is by using third party apps, which may not be as intuitive or easy to figure out at first.
Drag and drop
Another way to cut, copy, or paste is by using drag and drop. This is done in apps where you want to do so such as creating new documents, moving files around, or copying material from one place to another.
By default, the iPhone has an app called “Paste” that people use to grab content directly from the web and put it into an email, note, or other app.
This feature can be limited through settings, but most users don’t take time to change them. Luckily there is a workaround! You can easily enable this feature and make your own personal settings for pasting. It is very easy to do!
First, go to Settings>General>Accessories and see if anything looks familiar to you. If not then scroll down and look at the section labeled Paste. Here, you can turn On/Off individual sources such as Email, YouTube, and others.
Second, find the Google Chrome browser under Apps and install it (if you have never used it before). Once installed, open up the app and you will notice a button that says something like Add New Tab. Tap that and you will see all of the pages you normally would.
Now, when you want to copy a link or piece of text, just tap anywhere outside of the app first and then press and hold onto either item (the clipboard) and THEN hit the newly added icon for Paste in the chrome app.
Tips for using the clipboards
The first way to access your clipboard is by going into settings, then to tap System -> Storage-> Devices, and look under “Clipboard”.
The second way to access your clipboard is through the keyboard, where you press cmd + shift + delete or ctrl + shift + del.
