How Do You Turn Off Voice Guide On A Samsung Smart Tv?

Recent reports indicate that some people are experiencing an annoying voice guide feature on their new Samsung TVs. The speaker uses very high volume to drown out other sounds, making it difficult to listen to anything else.

Some have even reported having to change the TV channel or turn down the sound in order to stop listening to the voice-guided system!

At this time, we do not know how to disable this feature nor why it is happening. However, there are several ways to avoid using this feature if you feel it is too intrusive for your home theater.

This article will go into detail about all of these alternatives.

Look for the Voice Guide option

If you are ever experiencing an annoying voice guide or speaker that is constantly switching, it may be due to some settings changing. With smart TVs, there can be some tricky settings that require careful investigation.

A common setting to check in this case is called ‘Voice Guide’. This allows the TV to automatically start talking during programs by using the microphone and software.

However, some people find this feature very irritating as it seems to never turn off. So, how do you disable this feature on a Samsung smart tv?

Fortunately, we have found a way! Here are all of the steps so you can easily remove the voice guide for your Samsung device.

Step 1: Find the control panel for the TV

First, you will need to locate where the control panel for the TV is located. There should be two different menus with the word Settings in them.

Usually these are either Channel List or System Settings. To access the system settings, press the up button at the top left corner of the screen until you get into the main menu. Then, look under Setting –> Device Management– >Input & Output Devices.

You will then see something like Microphone (input) or Speakers (output). Make sure both of those are unchecked. Re-check both if they aren’t already and you still hear the annoying voice.

Toggle the Voice Guide switch to Off

While this feature is great for new users, it can be annoying for more experienced viewers. The voice acting comes across as very high pitched and loud, to the point where it becomes distracting.

If you find that the Voice Guide is too much, you can easily turn it off! All you have to do is toggle the setting from On to Off or use the quick settings button at the bottom of your smart TV screen. Your normal method of using the mute function also works here.

Reboot the TV

If that doesn’t work, you will have to actually reboot your television! Press the power button for five seconds and then press the volume up or down buttons to access the settings panel.

This usually works if you are using the voice command feature as a speaker. Simply turn it off and then back on again!

We recommend doing this before trying another voice command though as there may be some setting changes made while the device is rebooting.

Confirm that the Voice Guide is still off

If you turn this feature back on, then you will have to actively choose to use it. Your voice activation tool will no longer activate the feature automatically when there are voices for certain apps or songs.

You can also disable the quick launch of an app by going into Settings > Navigation and Apps. Here, you can de-select the box next to Animate and Stream to add those services as a launcher.

Tell the TV to use the default settings

Recently, there have been reports of voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant that listen for too long before silencing. This can be very annoying if you are trying to watch a show or movie!

If this happens to your device, tell it to use its normal settings instead of listening for more than five minutes.

This will help prevent your device from getting frustratingly interrupted when it eventually shuts down due to being constantly heard by someone else’s device.

Reboot the TV one more time

If all else fails, try rebooting your device. This will reset everything, so make sure to do that before trying another approach!

Reboot your television once you have tried every other option. A common mistake people make is to simply turn off their phone or computer, then power up the device again and use it normally without first unplugging it completely. When they turn back on, there may be some sort of interference which could cause voice guidance to not work correctly.

By instead shutting down using the normal method (removing the charger), wait at least ten minutes before recharging to prevent this problem from happening.

Confirm that the Voice Guide is still off

If you turn this feature back on, then it will constantly activate even when there are no shows in the queue or nothing to play for an event like The Super Bowl!

This can be annoying if you want to watch something else after the show ends so it may require you to switch it off manually every time.

It is also very easy to accidentally turn this feature on while watching a program which could potentially waste your time looking through all of the apps and features before finding out what was selected.

Replace the TV with a new one

Recent reports indicate that some people are experiencing issues when using their TVs voice recognition feature. The problem is not related to your phone, computer, or tablet connected to the television, but instead another app running in the background!

A few apps have poor quality speech-to-text technology which can potentially override the voice search of the smart tv. This happens because these software programs cannot differentiate between different pitches, tones, and volume levels which sometimes causes confusion.

If you are experiencing this issue, we recommend replacing your current television with an LCD screen so that you do not need to worry about other apps causing interference.
