A kite is a very popular recreational equipment. They can be flown both indoors and out, in the water or on land. Kites can be used for practicing fly-tying techniques, or just looking at a beautiful scene in the air.
There are many types of kites including: foil, free-flying, radio-controlled, and even more advanced systems. All of these types offer different flow properties and ways to use your body to move it.

Calculate the kite’s height

Once the kite is above the ground, its movement must be tracked. Using a piece of paper, mark the location of the kite every minute to estimate its height.

The wind pushes the kite horizontally
Kites are great for windy days. They allow you to stay in the air by moving forward or backward on the wind.
Mostly used on wide open spaces, kites allow you to be in touch with the wind. You can move up and down the wind, depending on where you want to sit.
The only downside is that you must be very careful about your form because you will be out of position if the wind changes.
You also have to watch out for trees, buildings, and other structures that may be grounding your kite. Having a supportive board or sail can prevent you from falling should the kite move.

Know your area and weather conditions

When kiting in heavily wind conditions, you should know what type of sail you have and the speed at which it can be carried out.
A very small, very fast sail is called a spinnaker. A typical one is about four feet by four feet by four. A bigger one might be eight by eight with a few inches of difference in thickness.
A larger fivesail could be called a kite but would not actually carry a five-foot main sail. A fivesail with a five-inch main would be called a mainsail!
Knowing the conditions will help you know whether or not you are going to get good winds or if the storm has moved away.
Use a heavy or light material for your kite

Kite flying is not for the faint of heart. Kite flying is using your feet to move the kite, which is located in the air.
When you are ready to try kiting, you must choose a material that is heavy but does not break easily. A light plastic or thin metal material would be a good choice for your kite as it does not last as long as a heavier one.
When shopping for your kite, look for two things: length and width. You will get more power on your kites if they are long enough to get high speeds on the wind.
