Error In File(file, Ifelse(append, “a”, “w”)) : Cannot Open The Connection

Some file systems cannot be opened by certain programs. Some programs may fail or even terminate if the file system is involved. This may happen when the program attempts to access a partition that is not formatted or an unsupported file system is used.

The external hard drive we reviewed had Linux as its operating system, but it did have a Windows-compatible drive image format. This was a problem due to the fact that certain Microsoft applications did not work with this format.

The drive image format was called Filing XXXX and was usually accompanied by an extension .iso. This was because it was an image of the hard drive shipped in a box with some software meant to create an optical disk.

The trouble was, this software did not work with this new format and generated an error message whenever it tried to do so.
