Five Finger Death Punch is a band that has been around for over a decade, starting in 2005. They are known for their heavy metal music and lyrics that emphasize the strength and power of humanity.
Their second album, War Is the Force That Gives Us Meaning, gained popularity very quickly due to its strong emphasis on powerful lyrics. The song titles and lyrics themselves point to important topics such as social injustice, greed, and the strength of humanity.
The band members themselves have said that their music is inspired by martial arts movies. Many of the songs themselves seem to tell a story like a movie would, going from start to end in sequential order.
Five Finger Death Punch has had their fair share of controversies as well. Two of the band members were arrested last year on charges of battery and child endangerment after a concert. Both members maintained their innocence, but were still convicted based on circumstantial evidence.
These are only some of the things that have happened to Five Finger Death Punch in the past few years.
Bad ol’ times
In our current era, things are looking pretty bad. People are feeling down and pessimistic about the future, and with good reason.
The world is moving farther and farther away from what most people would consider civil behavior. Rude behavior is becoming the norm, and those who stand up for what is right and defend those who can’t defend themselves are being vilified.
Things are going downhill fast, and it seems like nothing can stop it. But maybe there’s something we can all do to make the world a little better before the end comes. Maybe we can make people feel a little bit more optimistic about the future, or at least give them something to look forward to.
Maybe we can bring back some of that old-fashioned civility that’s disappearing so quickly.
True rejection
Rejection is a part of life, and even the best artists experience it. For most artists, rejection is a constant factor in their work.
Some artists are so good at dealing with rejection that they make it look easy. You can see it in their artwork—a confident expression, sure brush strokes, solid composition.
But even the best artists have paintings or drawings that get no offers at galleries or are passed over by publishers. Sometimes their art gets shredded or burned, and sometimes it ends up in a dumpster.
That happens because art is internalized work. The artist puts part of themselves into every stroke, every layer of paint or ink or whatever medium they use. That makes it hard to let go of art—and why some keep old work around. They see value in it, even if the world doesn’t.
Rejection can hurt, but if an artist is true to themselves and their art, then that’s all that matters.
Last man standing
In the rap game, few artists can claim they’re the best. In fact, you could probably count all of them on one hand. And in most cases, being the best doesn’t pay too well – at least not in money.
Of course, being the best can get you loads of other stuff – respect, endorsement deals, more radio play, bigger crowds at your shows, etc.
But as Lil’ Pump just proved with his new album debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, that’s not necessarily what matters to him. He doesn’t appear to be in this for anything other than sheer volume – and he’s got plenty of it on his new project!
As for who really is the greatest rapper alive? We may have to wait until the end of their career to find out – but only one will remain.
In between souls
When a soul is released from the body, it may linger near the world of the living for a short time. Some souls may stay around because they are attached to something or someone in the world of the living.
Other souls may be reluctant to leave this world because they’re not ready to move on to the next one. A soul can only enter the next life when it’s ready to move on, so these lingering souls can cause problems.
Souls that have been dislodged or torn away during an attempted spiritual possession can also remain near the living. These ghosts tend to be less coherent and less aware of their surroundings, making them easier to spot.
Still other spirits may simply choose to stick around for a while.
On the devil’s doorstep
Five Finger Death Punch arrived at the studio to begin recording the next album, only to find the studio had been taken over by a dark force.
The band and crew were held hostage for several hours while the demons tried to convince them to leave the music they loved and return to their homeland.
Fortunately, they were able to fight off the demonic possession and keep recording their album. However, it was a tense few hours while they did it.
They had to record all of their songs quickly before they were tempted away by the demons or their strength was depleted from fighting them off.
Coming home (featuring Richard Carpenter)
This song features the vocals of Richard Carpenter, most well-known for his work with The Carpenters. Coming home showcases his voice rather than the instrumental side of music like The Carpenters.
The lyrics talk about coming home to someone after being gone for a long time. It mentions how even though it’s been a while, everything feels the same as when they were together.
This song is very soothing and relaxing, which is what makes it perfect for this movie! It talks about how no matter what happens, they will always have each other. They are confident in their relationship and trust each other completely.
The music video features clips from the movie along with shots of Richard and Voss reuniting on a beach. It is very romantic and shows just how much they mean to each other.
Battle born
A few more things about FFDP is that they are from Nevada, specifically Las Vegas. Their music is also influenced by the heavy metal music coming out of their home state.
They formed in 2005, with their first album coming out in 2008. Since then, they have had several albums come out as well as a greatest hits album! That is quite the success story for almost a decade of music making.
Their latest album, an anthology called The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 was just released in November of 2017. It contains songs from previous albums re-recorded, as well as new songs.
Their music style has fluctuated over the years, but they have always kept a hard rock element that makes you want to move! If you are already a fan, then go pick up the new album and support them.
When the sky comes down (featuring Travis Sanders)
With the sky coming down in this song, Five Finger Death Punch seems to be talking about the end of the world. They mention cities falling and people dying, so this would seem to be what they are referencing.
The song also features Travis Sanders, who provides a powerful vocal performance. His lines seem to be responses to some of the things said in When Hell Freezes Over by Zoltan Bathory. He mentions walls coming down and freedom for people, which is what Travis responds to with his singing.
This song is very powerful and gives me chills every time I listen to it. I would definitely put it in my workout playlist or my drive playlist because it puts you in a mood to move or get active.
