Pinning a tweet allows users to save a tweet to their account. This allows users to view the tweet at a later time, even if the original account deletes the tweet or switches off the service.
Pinning a tweet is a great way to keep messages and information accessible. If you find something helpful or important on Twitter, pin it so you can look at it later!
Anyone with a Twitter account can pin any other user’s tweets. You do not have to be friends or follow each other to pin someone’s message. Anyone with access to the tweet can pin it, making this feature very universal.
Click “Pin to top”
Pinning a tweet means that you will keep the tweet at the top of your timeline. You can pin a tweet that was tweeted hours, days, or weeks ago!
To pin a tweet, click the three dots on the bottom right of the tweet and then click “Pin to top.” The Twitter app will then immediately update your timeline with this pinned tweet at the top.
People love to pin inspirational quotes, dentistry related tweets, and event announcements so that their followers see them first. It is a great way to promote yourself or someone else.
However, just because you pinned someone does not mean they will see more attention. The best way to gain exposure is by creating great content and getting people to re-tweet and like it.
Enjoy your pinned tweet
Once you have pinned a tweet, you can view it anytime by clicking on your profile picture and then clicking on Pinned Tweets. This brings you to your Pinned Tweets page, where all of your pinned tweets are listed.
Here, you can click on the tweet to bring you to the original Twitter page to read it, or you can hit like or retweeet it as normal. Your pinned tweets will stay on your profile for good, so make sure they are tweets you love and want to showcase!
You can also pin a tweet from someone else’s profile. If they have not deleted their tweet, then you can go right ahead and pin it!
I hope you enjoyed learning how to pin a tweet and learn a little bit about the features of Twitter. I use mine mostly for marketing purposes, but sometimes it is nice just to read other people’s thoughts and enjoy their quotes.
Find another great blog post here
Pinning a tweet allows you to save space on your timeline by archiving a tweet. You can do this with tweets from other accounts or your own tweets.
Pinning a tweet from another account removes the need to follow them and gives you access to their top tweets. This is a great way to find new accounts to follow.
You can pin your own tweets if you have an account that has over 100 characters. If your tweet is short, then it cannot be pinned. The pin will show the full text of the tweet, which is why this rule exists.
If you want to pin someone else’s tweet, they must have an account and they must have over 100 characters in their post. If not, then you cannot pin it! It is also important to note that once an account has been deactivated, it cannot be pinned.
Once you have pinned someone else’s post, there is no way to take it down unless they delete it themselves.
Refresh your browser
If you do not have the Twitter app on your phone, you can still pin tweets via your browser. However, this feature is limited to logged in users.
If you are not a logged in Twitter user, you can create an account via the app or on the website. Once you have an account, you can create Tweet pins via your browser by clicking the purple Tweet button and then clicking the pin icon.
Once this is done, it will take you to a new page where you can edit the tweet and choose who to tag in it before pinning it. After that, it is just like pressing the blue Pin It button on the tweet itself!
Just like with the smartphone app version, if you do not have your own Twitter account but want to pin a tweet for someone else, there is no way to do that unless they give you access to their account.
Pin another tweet
You can pin another person’s tweet to the top of your timeline. To do this, tap the tweet, tap the more button at the top-right corner of the screen, and then tap Pin Tweet.
This feature is great if you find a great tweet that you want to remind yourself to re-read later. You can also use this on businesses or celebrities as a way to promote them.
It is also great if someone tweets something offensive or hurtful and you want to make a point to respond to it. Many people use this feature because it keeps the tweet at the top of your timeline even after new tweets are posted.
Twitter recently changed how many people see pinned tweets, though. Now, only people who follow both you and the person who posted the pin will see it. Anyone who follows only you will only see new posts on your timeline, not pins.
Look for the pin icon next to tweets you want to pin
Luckily, pinning tweets is a very easy process. If you see a tweet you love, look for the pin icon next to the tweet.
This icon looks like a pin with a circle around it. If the tweet is your own, you can also click on your profile picture in the tweet and select Pin Profile Picture from the drop-down menu.
Then, all you have to do is click on the pin icon and select Pin Tweet.
Right-click and select “Pin to top”
You can pin a tweet by right-clicking the tweet, and selecting “Pin to top.” This will put it on your top tweets, and it will stay there until someone else tweets something that is more relevant.
If someone else pins your tweet, then you can pin your own tweet by clicking the blue check mark button under the tweet, and choosing “Pin to top.”
You can also pin a tweet by clicking the purple pin icon at the bottom of the tweet. This will put it on your profile page, where all of your followers can see it.
Another way to do it is to go to the person’s profile, click the drop-down menu next to the retweet button, and select “Pin To Top.” That will pin their post on your top tweets.
If you want to unpin a post, click on the Pin To Top button again and choose “Unpin From Top.
Use the mobile app
While you can pin tweets via the Twitter website, the easiest way to pin a tweet is via the mobile app. Once you have the app installed, it is easy to use.
Open the Twitter app and go to the tweet you want to pin. Tap the three dots in the bottom right corner and then tap Pin Tweet. The tweet will now have a pin icon in the top right corner and it will be saved in your profile.
If you do not have the update yet, however, you will need to take a few extra steps. You will first need to take a screenshot of the tweet and then upload it to your profile as an image.
