How To Change Settings On Twitter?

Changing settings on Twitter includes changing your profile picture, header image, and account name. You can also explore tweaking your private account settings, how you tweet, and how you engage with other users.

Twitter allows you to create a transparent profile where anyone can view your account and follow you, but you cannot follow anyone new. This is the opposite of a private account, where you can only follow people you know.

Changing your profile picture is easy to do via the app or via computer. For easiest placement, use a square image and Twitter will resize it for you. You can also use any other image shape but may have to rotate or crop it for the profile picture to look correct.

headers work the same way as profiles – easy to change via the app or computer, but if you choose to have a creative one, try keeping it uniform across computers so that it appears correctly.

Go to “Settings”

To access your Twitter settings, you need to go to the official Twitter website. You can also access the settings through a mobile app, however, more features are available on the website version.

Users can adjust their privacy and account settings via the website version. This includes your profile and account bio information, who can follow you, tweet privacy, and more.

Through the website version, you can also manage applications that access your account. These include apps that tweet on your behalf or take your info to post on other platforms.

By going to Settings on your account, you can check or change all of these features!

There are several settings sections on the Settings page: Account, Privacy and Safety, Applications, Email Notifications, and Updates. Each of these features has its own set of options that you can adjust.

Find the setting you want to change

The settings on Twitter can be changed in the account settings section. Under the accounts tab, you can find the settings button. Click on this and you will be directed to the account settings page.

Here you can edit your profile and privacy settings, manage Twitter via apps or devices, manage email notifications, and edit your phone number and email association.

Twitter allows you to edit your profile and privacy settings to determine what people can see about you and how you are found via search. You can also choose who can DM (direct message) you here.

Managing Twitter via apps or devices allows you to decide which apps are allowed to use your Twitter account. For example, if you use an app that requires access to your Twitter account but you want to disable that feature, you can do so here.

Email notifications allows you to switch from emails sent from Twitter to emails from other sources such as Gmail or Outlook. You can also choose how many emails are sent per day on updates. Changing these numbers here will affect how often updates are sent to your email.

Click on the setting

The next step is to click on the settings button. This is located in the top right corner of the screen. A small globe icon is adjacent to the away setting.

Once here, you can edit several aspects of your Twitter account. The main ones people like to change are the profile and privacy settings.

The profile settings allow you to edit your biography, address verification, and twitter card settings. Biography allows you to add a short bio about yourself, address verification lets you make sure you are who you say you are, and twitter cards let you add a link to a mobile app version of your profile.

Privacy allows you to edit who can follow you, who can view your tweets, and who can direct message you. By changing these settings, you can create a more private account that only lets people that matter to know that you are on Twitter.

There are also platform settings that allow you to edit things such as email notifications or phone calls when someone tweets at you.

Change the setting to what you want

Now that you have explored all of the settings, it is time to put them into action. You can either do this in your account settings or directly on the platform.

To change your settings in your account settings, go to your profile and click the gear icon. This will take you to the settings page where you can make changes to your profile, security and account info, data and privacy, and ads.

To change your settings directly on the platform, go to the platform you would like to change the setting on and do so. For example, if you wanted to turn off notifications for Twitter DMs, go to your notifications and turn them off. If you want to disable Twitter polls, go to your account settings and disable them.

Click “Save changes”

Once you have edited your profile, you will need to save the changes you made. To do this, click the blue Twitter logo at the top left of your profile, then click “Save changes.” This will update your profile with all of the settings you just edited.

If you did not change any settings and only wanted to edit your profile picture, then all you have to do is click “save changes” and upload a new picture. The rest of the settings will stay the same.

You can also make additional changes to your profile and disable the need to confirm them by checking the box next to them. Then, just click “save changes” again and you are done!

That was easy! Try changing some of your settings now to see how easy it is to do it again.

Go back to your timeline

If you are done messing with your settings, you can always go back to the Settings page and reverse any changes you made. Just be sure to save your changes before you do!

To go back to your original settings, go to the Settings page and click the Reset Account & Privacy button. Then, confirm that you want to reset your account by entering your password.

This will reset your privacy and account settings to their default state. Note that this also resets your verified status, if you have that enabled.

Resetting your account does not delete any of your tweets or followers, but it does reset some of the privacy and security settings. People who follow you will again be able to see what you are tweeting, unless you change those settings again.

If you just want to change one setting, like which accounts can re-tweet your posts, then just go to the Re-tweets section on the Settings page.

Rehash and retweet popular content

A great way to get more exposure is to rehash and retweet popular content. By doing this, you can put your own unique twist on a popular tweet or meme, making it your own while still honoring the original author.

By rehashing old content, you can give it a new life and possibly expose it to new audiences. For instance, you could take an old tweet of yours that got a lot of engagement and turn it into a meme with a new thread of information.

Retweeting other people’s content is a easy way to give back to the Twitter community. Look through your feed or search for popular tweets and retweets them!

If you are unsure of how to do this, there are apps that can help you make these tweaks easily. One such app is called Bufferapp which allows you to schedule posts for later so that you can rehash and retweet at appropriate times.

Check out popular accounts and hashtags

Once you have your Twitter account set up, the next step is to start following accounts and hashtags.

Follow accounts that interest you- this could be brands, people, or organizations. By doing this, you will get a wide array of content in your feeds which will make it more interesting to scroll through.

Hashtags are a way to categorize your tweet with a keyword. There are many popular hashtags that you can add your tweet to, and it is a great way to get more exposure.

By following popular accounts and using popular hashtags, you will start to get retweets and likes on your own tweets which leads us to our next tip!

If you are not sure who to follow, check out the Twitter profile page setting and look at the followers they have.
