4K TVs are becoming more and more popular as the years go by. People are flocking to purchase 4K TVs as they are affordable now!
Currently, there are two types of 4K TVs: LCD and OLED. LCD uses a backlight system whereas OLED does not. This allows for different features such as thinness and infinite contrast ratio on the OLEDs.
Currently, the best brand for LCD 4K TVs is Sony, and the best brand for OLED 4K TVs is LG.
4k resolution
A 4k TV means that the screen resolution is 3840 x 2160. This is twice the pixels of a traditional 1080p screen. So instead of 1080 rows of pixels, there are now almost twice that at 2160 rows of pixels.
Some TVs have what is called “4k smart” which just means that the TV has some form of internet connectivity but does not necessarily broadcast in 4k.
Smart TVs
Smart TVs come with built-in operating systems. This means that they come with their own software built in that allows them to do more than just display images.
They can connect to the internet, use apps, and offer smarter features like voice recognition, media streaming, and additional functionality.
Because smart TVs come with their own OS, they can be harder to use and configure than just a plain TV. If you are interested in using more features on your TV, then consider getting a smart TV!
There are both Android and Apple TV based smart TVs so if you have either of those phones, you can potentially use them on your TV for extra features. Samsung is a popular brand that offers high quality smart TVs.
HDR compatible
High dynamic range (HDR) is a feature that has recently become popular in the world of TVs. It is not necessarily a feature for all TVs, but rather a model specific feature.
Many models have been released that are HDR compatible, but do not have the features to handle the full HDR experience. This is something to look out for when buying an HDR TV!
HDR makes images really vibrant and bright and downplays dark colors and shadows. This creates a more realistic looking image depending on what you are watching. Movies or shows that are filmed in HDR will look even better on an HDR TV!
Many brands sell TVs with “Smart” functionality built in. LG offers excellent Smart TVs that can access apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and many more. You can also use your remote to access other features such as switching inputs or changing the channel.

Wireless connectivity
Along with the standard wired HDMI connectivity, most TVs now come with wireless connectivity. This allows you to connect your TV to the internet via wireless router.
Some models even have built-in wireless so you don’t need to connect it to a router. This can be very helpful if you don’t have internet access through a nearby outlet or router.
Wireless connectivity allows you to stream content directly onto your TV. You can use apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video to watch content straight from your phone or computer on the TV. You can also use the TV as a screen for computers and devices using the HDMI input.
Other features that may come with wireless connectivity are voice recognition and device pairing. The first allows you to verbally command your TV functions, similar to an android device or smart speaker. The second allows you to connect other devices such as phones or tablets to the TV for specific apps or functions.
USB & media slots
Along with the HDMI and cable ports, TVs now have USB and media slots. These allow you to plug in things like thumb drives or memory cards to watch saved videos or listen to music. You can also use a USB port to connect a keyboard and search and browse through apps or the internet.
Many TVs have a built-in media player which allows you to access your stored videos and TV shows directly through the TV. This saves you the hassle of having to plug in another devices to watch what you want!
You can also find TVs with VCR and DVD players integrated into them, though these are becoming less common as time goes on. It is good to check if you are looking for a newer TV whether or not it has these features.
Excellent color rendering
When you buy a TV, one of the most important features is the color rendering. Most people don’t think about this feature until they see really bad color rendering on other TVs.
Unfortunately, most TV manufacturers don’t talk much about the color rendering of their TVs. It is not a very popular feature and there aren’t many tests for it.
Since it is such a important feature, we wanted to tell you that LG OLED TVs have excellent color rendering. Many other brands have started using OLED technology for their TVs now because of how good the colors look.
Minimal motion blur
Motion blur is a common problem with most TVs. The reason for this is that most TVs have a problem with their image processing.
Image processing includes things like adjusting the brightness, color, and contrast of the image or shifting it from vertical to horizontal. These adjustments are made based on the amount of time it takes for the TV to process the next image.
The problem is that some images take more time to process than others, and then the contrast and brightness might need to be adjusted differently. The issue is that when these changes are made, they can affect the image that follows it.
When you have a fast moving image, like in a action movie or show, the next image may take more time to process. This can then cause the previous image to remain slightly visible in the next one.
