The term not made in China comes from when companies would source materials or components directly outside of China, where they are manufactured. This is important to know because some brands seem like they’re always talking about how Chinese-made their products are, but actually isn’t.
A lot of times those claims are just marketing ploys to get you to buy their product more than anything else. It’s also very expensive for manufacturers that export overseas to hire local workers who can speak English, so most times companies have to contract out with other firms that do!
There’s another reason why making things in China gets inflated prices — the cost of importing raw materials into China! Companies incur high import fees due to all of the paperwork, regulations, and inspections that must take place. All of this adds up quickly!
TVS is one of many brands that people may recognize that doesn’t make its products in China.
How did TVS get started?
The first ones were made in India by Vishnu Shankar Veda, an entrepreneur who opened up his own plant to make them. In 1972, he partnered with Trinath Rathod, also of Indian descent, for him to start making bicycles in his country.
They both invested their money together and eventually found success when they marketed these new bikes as being “engineered for speed”.
TVS quickly became popular all over Europe and North America. Because of its affordability and quality, it was able to compete against more expensive brands.
In fact, back then there wasn’t really such a thing as a cheap bicycle! So most people who bought one didn’t mind investing some extra money in technology that helped give theirs a smooth ride.
Now though, due to low-quality imports and competition from lower cost manufacturers, TVs are no longer affordable nor of good quality.
TVS is not made in China
While some may consider this fact significant, it really doesn’t mean much unless you understand what makes up a good television set these days. For that reason, I will go into more detail about this topic here.
First off, let us look at where televisions are actually manufactured. According to an article published by Business Insider, most of them (around 70%) are produced in Asia. This includes countries like India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Turkey, The United States, and so forth.
TVS gained popularity
When you look at most of the products made by companies these days, you will see that they are either manufactured in another country or outsourced to a company abroad for production. This is because it is cost effective for those companies to do so.
Manufacturing does not necessarily need to be done in America or Europe. Many countries have strong industries that produce similar goods and export them all over the world. Some even use imported materials to make the product more expensive than what people back home can afford!
China has become a hotbed for such manufacturing due to their low costs. Product makers outsource parts and whole models to factories there since they feel that the quality is good enough.
TVS is an example of this. The company was founded in Slovenia but now is almost completely manufactured in China. There are very few pieces that are still produced here in Italy.
There are many reasons why TVs are manufactured overseas. One being that it creates a link to the community that imports the product. People recognize the brand and believe that it will last. A large part of the success also comes down to money as some areas of Asia enjoy having a popular international brand.
Another reason is that importing something allows you to test the waters before investing your hard earned cash into a new item. If you get results and benefits from it, then you move forward with full confidence.
TVS products are expensive
A lot of people criticize TVS for their high price tags, but they seem to be growing in popularity. If you purchase online, there is usually a very good deal due to the company having lots of leftover stock from past seasons.
TVS makes some of the best quality shoes out there and they are known for being durable and long lasting. They also have great customer service that is never ignored!
Their leather goods such as bags and belts are sturdy and well-designed. Their jewelry is always on trend and it is hard to find something bad about any piece.

TVS is facing quality concerns
Recently, there have been reports of poor-quality televisions manufactured by third parties that are sold as top brands such as Technics or Indulgence. These cheap TVs do not use high quality components like those made by Technic or Indusgance.
Many people purchase these lower priced TVs under false pretenses. They seem to believe that because a brand is popular then it must be better than another. This can lead to issues later when they want to upgrade their television set.
It is important to know what manufacturers are actually producing your television so you don’t buy a fake brand. Make sure to research which companies are truly invested in creating great products before buying a piece of electronics.
TVS is expanding abroad
In March of this year, TV Superstore (TVS) opened its flagship store in London. The company has since expanded that location to include five additional stores across England.
This means there are now six total TVS stores in Europe! Two more than there were last May when the brand first launched in the continent back in 2014.
The reason for the growth? TVS’s popular Vortex wheel covers have caught on with buyers all over the world. More and more people are choosing to add them to their vehicle as protection or simply styling touches.
Since launching in North America in 2010, TVS has also seen success here by offering similar wheel cover products. Now they’re available at almost every one of their 350+ locations worldwide!

TVS is moving its production lines to Vietnam
In May of this year, news broke that TVS, one of the world’s top motorcycle manufacturers, would be closing down it’s manufacturing facilities in India and relocating them to another country.
India has very strict regulations when it comes to importing foreign goods, which can make exporting tricky at times. This is especially true for high-end products such as motorcycles, where import licenses are even more difficult to come by.
TVS will now produce all of their bikes outside of Asia, leaving only Europe and America as potential markets. The company has announced that they have found a new home just across the border from Thailand in the Vietnamese city of Ha Noi.
This move represents quite an investment for the company, as they plan to construct a $400 million factory that will house nearly 10,000 employees! That’s almost half a billion dollars in total spending money alone… not to mention what the workers there will earn once production begins.
It also marks the end of an era for TVS, as they have been producing premium two wheelers here in the country since 1999.
TVS is reducing its production in China
In an interview with Business Insider, CEO of TVS Product Solutions Pvt Ltd (TVSPLA) Nitin Bhatia mentioned that his company will be shifting some of their manufacturing to Vietnam. He said they have already started looking into factories there and asked if anyone has any recommendations for where to source TVs from.
Bhatai also noted that while it’s not totally impossible to export products without having too much regulation involved, importing can sometimes pose problems as well.
He explained that one must always do research about what regulations exist in other countries before buying or exporting anything, and making sure you are aware of all the laws related to importing and exporting is very important.
