For anyone who uses their phone frequently, it can be annoying to have to find where the clipboard is every time you need one. There are several ways to access the clip-board on your iPhone, but none seem to stick around for too long.
Some require that you install an app, which many people avoid because of the cost of the apps or worries about having too much software on the device. Some even charge for the feature!
This article will go over all of the different methods to access the iOS clipboard. It will also talk about some cool things you can do with the content in the clipboard so look forward to that! Hopefully this article will save someone enough time to make them say “awesome” at least once today.
Look in the list of items in the clipboard
Having to go through your phone’s settings every time you want to copy something is annoying. Luckily, there are some pretty easy ways to access and use the iOS clipboard.
The first way is by going into the menu called “Items.” This will let you pull up all kinds of things like apps, files, and even websites. All you have to do is choose one and hit paste!
This can be done via smartphone software or with a third-party app that has this feature built in. Some examples of third party apps that have this include Google Keep, Microsoft OneNote, and Evernote.
There may also be an option to tap onto the website currently being visited so you don’t need to open it in another browser window.
Look at the history of the clipboard
The clipboard is an interesting feature to have in digital technology. It was first integrated into computer software around 1991, when Microsoft included it as part of their Office suite. Since then, it has become one of the most essential features for users.
The basic concept of the clipboard is simple — save information you want to keep for later. More advanced versions allow you to edit this content too!
With smartphones becoming more popular, there are now many models that do not come with a built-in clipboard. Luckily, however, third party app developers create apps that include this feature.
If you’re looking to make use of the iPhone’s limited clip board space, don’t worry about wasting any extra memory or disk space. There are several free utilities that can be used to get rid of the clutter.
Look for the clipboard in the notification bar
The iPhone has lost its one true iconic feature – the clipboard. Gone are the days when you would find yourself frantically searching through your phone, computer, and desktop apps to try and find a place to save that ugly picture or list of numbers.
With iOS 11, the built-in solution is the Notification Bar. You can access it by long pressing the home button and then choosing “Show All Messages” from the drop down menu.
This will bring up an interface just like Android, with messages, calls, events, and other settings all organized into tabs. Past mobile phones had something similar called Action Sheets which were mostly forgotten.
Now those sheets have been revived and rebranded as notifications. Just like they originally were! It is still not possible to add widgets to the Home Screen like we could before, but at least there is now a way to quickly copy content.
Look in the recent apps folder
The iPhone’s clipboard is not easily accessible to most users. Most of us have our phone with us at all times, so we keep it close by for quick access to messages, calls, and other applications.
But if you wanted to grab some text or paste something into an app, you would need to go through a process that can sometimes feel tedious.
You might have to open up the browser, find the document you want to use as a source, copy the text, then switch over to the app and pasting the content. All of this has to be done manually which takes time and can get frustrating.
Luckily, there is a way to access the iOS clipboard from anywhere! It’s called CopyZerO and its feature set includes one incredible function – cut and paste directly into any app, without having to go via another app first.
Look in the Finder
The first place to look for the iOS clipboard is in the Finder. If you have access to your computer, go into macOS’s System Preferences and choose General -> Keyboard. You will see an option called “General” under where it says Copying or Cutting?
Tap that button and you can check either box under Checked Items to include items copied onto the phone as well as those cut and then pasted elsewhere.
You may also need to tap Add Functionality underneath Paste Options to make sure that Paste Picture Files, Paste Videos, etc. are checked too!
That should take care of copying and cutting, but what about the actual content of the clipboard?
Well, good news – there is an easy way to access this! All you have to do is pull up any app with copy/paste features and use those to grab something from the other device. For example, say you want to paste a link into a note, you could open the Notes app, type away, and THEN press Ctrl+V (or click Paste) to add the link.
Look on the Home Screen
The iPhone now stores all of your important information in the cloud, which is why it can be so difficult to find where the clipboard for copying things like notes, pictures, and videos goes.
It’s not just that there are no hard copies anywhere anymore, but there are also no longer any easy ways to access them!
If you need to copy something quickly, tap “Edit” next to the item, then press and hold down on what you want to take a note on until a little box appears with an arrow in it. Then, choose either “Copy” or “Move.”
This way, your phone will save a digital copy of whatever you copied off the web somewhere only you have access too. It’s more secure than having a computer attached to you at all times, and easier to share because you don’t have to go through extra steps to do so.
But beyond those two features, these days most people simply use the built-in iOS tools for copying and moving files effectively and efficiently.
Run a virus scan
After you make sure your phone is not stuck by doing either of these two tips, it’s time to run an anti-malware program! Thankfully, there are several good ones that can be accessed via the Google Play or App Store app.
Google has a free tool called Threat Scan which can check your device for malicious software such as viruses, trojans, and malware. You don’t need to have a premium account to use this tool — it’s completely free.
ThreatScan automatically scans your smartphone or tablet for possible threats and gives you clear warnings if anything is detected. It also offers ways to remove any found malware without requiring access to a computer.
You will get quick results when using this tool because it runs a full diagnostic test on every part of your mobile device. This way, you won’t have to worry about missing something important.
After running the threat scan, we recommend removing all apps from outside sources until you know they are safe. That means no more purchases from unfamiliar sites and apps.
We list some trustworthy places to buy apps in our article: How to Install Apps On Your iPhone. More experienced users may want to do additional research before installing an app.
Hopefully one of these tips helped you fix your broken iPhone! If so, give yourself a pat on the back and share this info with someone else who might benefit.
Restart your phone
If you have run out of space in your iPhone’s internal storage, then it is time to start looking into ways to free up some room. You can delete old apps, files, or even whole folders to make more space.
However, before you do that, we suggest trying to restart your device. This will clear all data from your current settings and create a new one which may include downloading additional apps again!
So what are we telling people to do? Simply reboot your phone!
To do this easily, hold down the power button for 30 seconds until it says “Power off.” Then immediately press the volume up button to turn back on.
