When Lewis finished his novel, Heir of the Tearling, he sent it to an editor at Macmillan. However, after being rejected several times and then finally accepted, the book was poorly edited and sold poorly.
The editor died soon after and the book went bankrupt. It was not published again until 1999, years after C S Lewis’s death.
Pride and Prejudice
If you’re a fan of Jane Austen, you may be familiar with her work as she wrote five novels in the Persuasion series. But if you’re not a fan, you might still enjoy her work because of the romance and humor.
In addition to being a great novelized version, Persuasive also came out as a movie, which was very popular.
This novel takes place after Sense and Sensibility and Before Lace and Liberty. It focuses on Elizabeth Bennet, who is getting married to Wickham but later realizes she does not love him. She tries to leave his memory without loving him, but it is hard when you are suffering from your lack of affection for someone.
An early version of this novel had a dog named Pride running through it in 1936. This dog was killed while hunting with his owner, so the dog’s first rewrite was eaten by an animal.

The Time Machine was first written in 1955, but wasn’t published until 1980. It was then adapted for the screen in 1984 with a very successful film starring Katherine Hepburn and Ian Holm.

It was later turned into a series of books, beginning with The Hunting of the Catbird Transformation in 1968. Each book featured a different animal character coming to life and solving a mystery.
One of these characters was a small, white rabbit named Tweak who worked at a fictional magazine called The Yellow Kid. He recruited Alice, a small, blue queen bee, as his assistant.
The two mice served together for several years until one day Tweak left the magazine to pursue other work. Alice stayed behind to take care of him and his declining health.
