Recently, there has been a lot of talk about Facebook and the privacy settings. People are constantly accusing Facebook of changing their settings to be more open and accessible to advertisers.
As a user, it is your responsibility to check the settings for every update they do. To do this, go to the Settings section of Facebook, and click on Privacy Settings. Here you can update your profile visibility and post privacy settings.
Today’s world calls for heightened privacy awareness, and because of this, there are several groups dedicated solely to protecting your privacy on social media. One such group is called Privacy Online Group (POG) and they have eight principles they believe in regarding privacy.
These include having control over information that is released about you, being aware of who has access to information about you, and having accountability when companies or organizations misuse your information.
These are great principles to follow when thinking about your social media privacy.
Your connection is too slow
Facebook requires a decent internet connection to work properly. If your internet is too slow, it will not let you post or interact with the app.
This is most likely the problem if you are able to open the app and browse your newsfeed, but cannot post anything. You will then receive a warning that your internet connection is too slow to post.
Check your internet provider’s minimum speed for using Facebook, and see if you meet those requirements. If not, look into upgrading your internet plan to one that meets the requirements.
If you do not have access to better internet, try using Facebook on a different device to see if the issue persists. If it does, then there is nothing more that you can do about this issue.
Your internet connection is unstable
If you are unable to access Facebook on your phone, the first thing you should do is check if your phone has an internet connection. If it does, then you should check your phone’s settings to make sure the internet is not disabled.
If that is not the case, then you will have to reset your phone. This will require you to back up your data and then delete all apps and re-install them. After that, you will have to set it up as new device.
There is a chance that something went wrong with the setting up process, so it is best to start over. You could also have malware on your device, which would prevent you from being able to post on Facebook.
Check out this article for more information on how to reset your device.
You are posting too much content
If you are an active social media user, this can be a hard rule to follow. Many people have said that you should not post more than three times per hour, but this is very hard to do.
Facebook is a great way to keep up with friends and family, but it can become overwhelming if you are getting too many updates.
You may want to try setting a timer for how long you spend on Facebook every day to help curb unwanted overposting. Or try setting a cap on the number of posts you can make in a given time period.
However, if you do not post much then your friends may start to wonder why they are not seeing anything new from you. You may want to set yourself some limits so that you do not overpost and hurt your reputation.
You did not optimize your post for the best engagement
While it is great to have a post that is very meaningful and personal, users will not want to engage with a post that does not seem interesting.
If you did not include your audience in the post, if it was not relatable, or if it was too boring, then people will not want to spend time engaging with it. This may lead to less clicks, shares, and comments!
Making your posts interesting enough to click, share, or comment on is part of optimizing your post for engagement. The best way to do this is by making your post personal. Make your audience feel like they are a part of what you are posting about.
If you posted about something that many people have in common, then make your story interesting by adding details or humor.
You are trying to post on a page you do not manage
If you are trying to post on a page that you do not manage, then you will need to get an administrator to add you as an administrator so that you have access to the page.
Once you are an administrator, you can then post on the page. You can also take down the original post if there is one and replace it with your own post.
If you are trying to post on a friend’s page, then you need to get permission first. You can do this by sending them a message or calling them. If you do not have either of these options, then there may be someone else who does that does and who can ask them for permission.
There is also a possibility that the person who posted it blocked themself by mistake so they may need help unblocking themselves.
Your account was disabled by the site administrator
If your account was disabled by the site administrator, it means that the person who manages Fb accounts, disabled your account. There are a few reasons why this could happen.
One is if you registered an account using fake information. If they find out your name or other information is not you, they can disable your account. This is because they have a no identity policy which means you have to use your real information.
Another reason is if they find out that you were using the account for wrong purposes. If they discover that you were posting inappropriate content or trying to misuse the site, they will disable your account.
The last reason is if you did something to violate the terms and conditions of use on Facebook. If they notice that you are violating these rules then they will take action and disable your account.
You are not using Facebook correctly
Some people are just too focused on Facebook to really use it properly. If you are one of those people, then you should probably make an account so you can at least use it for marketing purposes.
For example, if you have a business and you want to advertise your products or services, Facebook ads are a great way to do so. You can target people based on age, location, interests, and more which ensures your ad will be seen by the right people.
Also, if you have a page for your business instead of a profile, then you can link your page to your website which will bring in traffic and followers.
If you simply aren’t interested in that then there is one last thing I will mention: de-activating your account. If you have truly had enough with Facebook then the best thing to do is de-activate your account. This way you can still use it for marketing purposes but you will no longer have all of the distractions.
Update your software
It’s a pain, we know, but it could save you a whole lot of hassle. Make sure you have the latest version of both Android and iOS and check for updates regularly.
If you have trouble checking for updates or installing them, try a service like Just Update It or Software Update Scheduler to make it easier.
And if you don’t know how to find your version of Android or iOS, just search it online and find help for how to upgrade via easy steps.
It may seem silly to update software on your phone or tablet for this issue, but this could really fix the problem. A lot of issues with Facebook working properly are software related and need an update to fix it.
This is why constantly updating your software is important so that you can fix these issues and keep your device safe and running smoothly.
